Frequently asked questions
Do I need to carry a beacon?
Yes. For all of our BC and lift access BC tours an up to date beacon, shovel and probe are required.
Is my skill level suitable for a BC tour?
You don't have to be an expert to enjoy backcountry skiing or snowboarding. If you can comfortably navigate most of the terrain at the ski area in variable conditions then you are at a level to enjoy backcountry skiing/riding. If you have never been off the marked runs or skied deep powder/ungroomed snow then a private lesson is highly recommended.
What should I bring?
Layers - Bring more layers than you would do for a normal day at the ski field to account for the body temperature changes you will experience hiking etc. A lightweight pair of gloves and hat for the hike are also recommended. Sunglasses - Goggles will quickly fog when worn hiking so a pair of good sunglasses is essential, even on a cloudy day. Food/Water - Bring plenty of food and drink to last the day. We`ll normally pass by a convenience store to pick up supplies and there is always a freshwater spring enroute where we can fill our water bottles before skiing.
